Short Bio:

Diane Worthey is an award-winning author and musician. Her works include In One Ear & Out the Other: Antonia Brico & Her Amazingly Musical Life (Penny Candy Books, 2020) and Rise Up With a Song: The True Story of Ethel Smyth, Suffragette Composer. (Bushel & Peck Books, 2022)

Her forthcoming title, The Sound Museum: Explore the World of Instruments, Composers, and Symphonies With Over 400 Sounds will be released by Bushel & Peck Books in August 2026.

Her books have won many accolades, including the Paterson Prize, Junior Library Guild, American Library Association’s Rise: A Feminst Book Project, the coveted Starred Kirkus Review, and the Children’s Book Council Notable Social Studies book award.

When not making music or creating books, Diane loves to spend time with husband, daughters and cuddly cat.

She also can’t pass up a good oat milk latte.

Long Bio:

Diane grew up in Denver, Colorado surrounded by the majestic Rocky Mountains. She began violin lessons at the age of 8 and played in the Brico Symphony (now the Denver Philharmonic) as a teenager. She majored in music at the University of Wyoming and has taught in public school and preparatory programs in California, Michigan, Iowa and Washington state. She currently teaches and private studio of violin and viola students, writes for children, and advocates for diversifying bookshelves to include historical women who have contributed to the field of classical music.

Diane’s upcoming release, THE SOUND MUSEUM: Explore the World of Instruments, Composers, and Symphonies with Over 400 Sounds will be released in August 2026.

Passionate about the arts and telling the stories of underrepresented musicians, Diane hopes her books empower and encourage young artists of all genders to pursue their dreams.

When not making music or creating books, Diane loves to spend time with husband, daughters and cuddly cat.
